This article may be of some help:

https://www.volvocars.com/in/support...a801514292566a

If you have activated RTTI in the settings menu and have an internet connection, then traffic conditions should be displayed in the Drivers/Sensus Map displays.
See the sample display in the above article.

Hi tem,

As jgn observes, I can confirm that in Ireland RTTI is provided over internet via INRIX and requires internet connectivity. I did find that support article when trying to figure it out, and although it says 15/08 it doesn't reflect what I see. Also the Settings -> System Information page in Sensus specifies the traffic provider as INRIX.

That support article suggests that there is some traffic info also provided by TMC via FM but I'm not sure what that is. Is that where the car automatically switches to the radio when a radio station has a traffic bulletin? That drove me nuts on the day I picked up the car, took me a while to figure out how to turn it off, it was really annoying.

Anyway, RTTI is back working for me, the downtime lines up with what jgn said so we can conclude it to have been a local connectivity issue and not the car.

Thanks for all the comments guys, you have been most helpful!

I noticed that it was possible to see what traffic provider was in use through one of the system menus.

I did notice the INRIX option appear when RTTI was working over the weekend but it seemed to switch to TMC based traffic on Monday even with the RTTI option enabled.

I am now wondering if updating the maps, which i did Sunday evening might have toggled something off and i never noticed it - that link to volvo support does include:
The option to activate the service may need to be selected when you make settings in a new car, for example, as well as after certain software updates, after workshop visits or when creating a new driver profile.

It seems light years ago now, but prior to Volvo’s becoming internet connected, their maps received traffic information from Classic FM in the U.K.
Then, I had to drive South at least 15 miles before I could get reception.

As for Traffic Information, broadcast by Radio 1 etc, they are a pain and I disable this option.
