Default v40, how many miles do they last?

so im a lifestyle courier (the type that use their own car) and looking to get a bigger car seen a few v40's for sale and think they'd suit my needs perfectly, the 1 im thinking about getting has over 145k on the clock, now as i recall the volvo's off old hadn't even been run in by then, if that still the case or are they more fragile these days?

many thanks

John

Blimey, I guess it depends on the history. My 2.0 petrol '97 V40 used a bit more oil than I'd expect at 135,000, but my 1.9D uses hardly any at 157,000 - oh, I use the simple oil consumption ratio as a simple guide to how worn the engine is

Very reliable cars these.

Should do really high mileages provided they're well maintained

Mine has done coming up on 85,000 and drives like a new car

Guess I'm not far off from joining that list!! Mine was badly abused by the previous owner but with the help from the guys on this forum, I'm only a few £'s away from having a car that I'm sure will get to 250,000 miles!! and trust me, if my car can make it with the faults I have had to sort out after years of abuse, any V40 will get to 200k easily!!

I spent about 4 months trying to find what car I wanted to get that was practical, reliable, comfortable, looks good and was good value for money. I ended up with a nice '03 V40 1.9D sport, its currently on 117k and it still feels fresh, no issues I can really find, just a few bulbs that need replacing here and there and the intake needed a clean out due to the EGR valve but other than that I can't fault it.

I specifically got a V40 rather than a newer S40 2.0D due to the fact that its a Ford 2 litre diesel in the newer cars and its a shockingly bad engine and the DPF fails causing very expensive issues.

They don't make them like they used to also its based on the Mitsubishi Charisma chassis, so its the same as the Evo 1-3 so parts such as brakes bolt right on and a few S40s have been converted to full 4WD lol
