Hi...not sure if I am the messer or the genuine guy...I'm hope the latter..
Reason for my delay is I've been to interview for a new job that stated the use of a company vehicle. The company is not local...so I assumed I would have to travel to work to pick up the company vehicle..and I don't want those kind of miles going on my cherished low mileage C70...so....I was looking into buying a second car. After having had the interview, I now know that if I'm successful (haven't heard yet)...I will be able to take the car home....so I probably won't need to buy another. Hope that explains it ! If I needed a second car for travelling and clocking mileage to get to the work place to pick up the company car...I would certainly have bought an 850 or V70 from the seller's on this site. Best wishes Dave

Well if anyone would like to give me £5k for it, I'd be very grateful.

Hi Lovejoy,
Thanks for your PM, and I appreciate your reasons for using a PM instead of open forum. Thank You. However, the exact reason I didn't mask the cars reg number was precisely so potential buyers could review MOT history and see for themselves the cars track record, nothing is hidden here. You are quite correct in the Odometer readings, due to the Odometer being busted before I got her. I did a repair to it ( little plastic gearwheel in the speedo head ) which I wrote up for tech topics in the Club's Driver magazine. In the same article I showed how to read the run miles from the cars computer, which is approx. 213,000 - can't remember exactly without digging out the article. There is no issue with coolant, I have never needed to top it off, it doesn't overheat or leak. Again for the sake of complete honesty, the only thing that I wanted to do but never around to was clean out the PCV. The Crankcase pressure is a bit high, but to be expected at this miles. Just a pain to drop off the inlet manifold and dig the collector out from the front of the crankcase. And I'm getting a bit too old and creaky to do that stuff these days.

Hi Nick44,
Cards on the table...I know very little about cars However, what I can say is that, I live in Chiswick, and I need an estate car which I could transport the contents of my tiny flat over to Northern Ireland due to a relocation. When i'm there, i'd like to be able to drive the car around 100 miles per week. Do you think it could withstand the above, bearing in mind I could probably just find the windscreen wash under the bonnet, and that's my limit. Essentially, does it need TLC and some mechanical understanding to keep running over the next 6/12 months? Hope you don't mind the questions! Cheers, Rich (can send my tel no. via PM if easier to talk via phone, or vice-versa) Last edited by rickyghib; Sep 18th, 2018 at 12:01. |

Just as a side note, I've been in contact with Nick and I have to say that his honesty is second to none. He sent me a good load of extra close up photos of the car and apart from very minor imperfections, I think it's a bargain. The interior is near perfect too.
The wing could be left as it is, as it wont fail the MOT. I have had tape on my wing for several years and is now in need of replacement. I think the wing on Nicks car could be salvaged if tackled soon. If the cars PCV system is clogged, it can be quite expensive to put right, but it might soldier on for a few more years. The main problem is that the engine will start to blow oil out here and there, leaving a small mess on the drive and engine bay. For £500 and open to offers, there is a bargain to be had. I would have bought it, but he is a bit too far and I have just got what I needed off ebay. I say go for it

Thanks Dean- hoping I can make contact with Nick. Although as i'm a newbie to the forum I couldn't PM him. I'm unsure he'll get a e-mail with a thread response on this forum...could I be ever so cheeky and ask you to drop him a PM pointing to the direction of my post? With a funky work schedule, I am only available to view/buy until Friday, then out of the country for the next few weeks- so wouldn't like to miss the opportunity as it certain seems like it wouldn't be around in October!

Farewell
Just wanted to say that after 22 fantastic months together this beauty has finally reached the end of the road for me.
Over that time it did 5 return trips to Northern Ireland, and numerous cruises around the south of England. Probably spent c.£1000 with a couple of mechanics to fix a few issues and pass the MOT twice, but sadly there is an issue with the fuel pumps and electrics which is beyond the amount of money we want to spend on her. This was my first Volvo and has ruined my expectations for any other car it will be hard to beat. |
