Had an A4 Avant hire car for a week in Italy, it used google mapping and you could set satellite view in either the main MMI screen or in the Virtual Cockpit (digital instrument cluster). The mapping was brilliant, way clearer and better looking than the Volvo stick figure maps.

And sometimes its the little things that really impress and become useful: In the case of the Audi google nav, it was a constant display of the next three services coming up on the motorway, including current distance to them and the facilities they offered (fuel, food, toilets) etc, really useful.

Click on "Next" in the map window on Sensus and see what happens.

I've just had a quick look at this. What exactly do you mean by click on "next", there isn't a next button an I couldn't find anything under itinerary etc..

I tried it briefly on a short journey yesterday and it looks really good, but limited functions with zoom etc unless I just need to get used to it. I wish I could get it to use more of the screen though. I will try to see if google and volvo sat nav will work at the same time on a journey as it accepted this while on the drive yesterday.
I also like how well the voice option works on the screen with google maps, so easy and picked up what I asked really well for locations.
I have always used the Volvo sat nav as it gave me the driver display and HUD, this could be a game changer for me now though.
Come on Volvo, even value cars offer carplay now at no extra cost, give us the driver display at least as well, rather than looking at Audi and thinking "this is what you could have had".

I do not see the sense in apple car play, yet anyhow, not till it is fully functional and uses wifi or bt, just annoying you have to plug phone in all the time, had it on a couple of cars, never used it yet.

I might Add I have this odd feeling that Apple is going to go into a decline too, I use apple everything and it is starting to bug me with there dodgy software updates the iPhone gate cost me a lot of money, and my iMac since last update has slowed down massively on start up from standby, and again I read, they have implemented something to make it slow down for a reason, and I have tried everything to get it to awake from sleep as it did before last update.

There are some great alternatives now for half the price appearing on the market.

Sorry, I was wrong - it's not "Next" but "Ahead":

Click on the 3 dots in the map window and you will have "Ahead" to view POIs (gas stations, restaurants, hotels etc..) along your route:

I get what you mean on Apple, as I went down the Apple everything route. I am getting fed up with what seems the greed for crazy profits.

I have a very old iMac which has outlived 4 pc's! If you call Apple they will speed up your machine again, its probably re-indexing everything and can be told to calm down.

I thought the same about having to plug the phone in but now I do that automatically and never need to charge my phone outside my car (Audi A4 at present).
Having said that I didn't choose it as an option on my XC60 (picking up on wednesday) as I thought it wasn't really worth the £300 as functionality isn't great apart from podcast integration.
