Default Throttle Position Centre

HI guys - can anyone give me the Volvo part number for a Throttle Position Sensor, off a 1998 Volvo S40 1.8i GDI.

Anyone know how hard they are to fit - Volvo in Shrewsbury have quoted £299 inc VAT fitted, is that a resonable price or not??

cheers

30874178 compare the price with a complete throttle body though ... how easy it is to fit depends on your experience in these matters ;-)

thats expensive

my s40 1997 B4184S engine had a problem with that sensor and the sensor its self was £30 all in total was £150. Changing the sensor doesnt take 10mins

I dont much about GDI engines

Thanks alot for that - I have had the car on diagnostics at volvo and come up with the following EFI-0014 and EFI 0058 both sensors checked and TPS came back as the faulty sensor - i just thought that £299 was an awful lot of money for a sensor change.

Just looking at my options.

thanks for the help

Interested to know what prompted the sensor change? Where there any symptons?
Reason for asking is that my V40 has a racing throttle, ie, idles at 1800rpm when cold.

What model of V40 are you referring to here? You ideally need to get the car to someone who has diagnostic equipment and can view "live" engine data - see what % reading the throttle position sensor is giving at idle and that will once and for all tell you whether you need to change it.

Hi Johnt71 - if you go to my posts you will find my symptoms listed on my 1st post (S40 1999 1.8i power loss) - i thought at 1st that it was the MAF, changed that with no change to performance bit the bullet and paid for it to go on diagnostics, was surprised that William A Lewis in Shrewsbury only charged £29. hope this helps
