V70R Gearbox compatability - Help Please !!!
Hi All,
Just a general query. Just had the AW55-50SN auto box on my 2000 V70R AWD give up the ghost. My much loved toy is the 2.4 version with the 5 speed non-tiptroninc adaptive auto. VIDA says it's a TCM-002A error and it's stuck in limp mode Grrr..... I've had a look around and it's looking like about £2K to get it rebuilt. I've seen an AW55-50SN for sale on flea bay but it has a different part number as I believe it's from a C70. Will this box work in my car if I was to get it installed, it is listed as an AW55-50SN and the volvo badge on it says it's the right box, just wanted to know if it was worth me buying this box if it is not going to work. Or if anyone knows a good gearbox refurb company in the Basingstoke area that will not charge me half of my genetalia for repairs. I've got a VIDA system so can do the gearbox learning mode if that is the only issue. Thanks for any help guys. Cheers Rhys |

This is sort of the same problem I have,
My box is shot but still drivable, goes through all 5 gears but kicks and jumps and pops. I sourced a newer box from a p2 2002 v70, same aw55 but it has different plugs, my friend is an autobox guru he opened the new box's valve cover and said you can just swap the looms over I'm hoping it will work or he'll have to swap the innards

Well after much searching I've decided to get my gearbox rebuilt.
The company I am using were recommended by my mechanic and are based in Reading. Hopefully get my baby back this weekend. I'll let you know the outcome. |
