Unhappy Volvo 940 Torslanda Alarm Remote problem PLEASE HELP!

Hi

We have a problem with our 940 Torslanda its an r-reg 1997 2.3LPT and it has a built in volvo alarm and remote central locking it currently doesnt want to work properly and it takes ages to get the remote to work it and somtimes it wont turn off at all and you have to open the door and let the alarm go off!It has immobilises the engine as well when you allow it to go off so i am worried i might get stucj out somewhere and not be able to start it .The horn doesnt sound either all that happens is the indicators flash so i dont know if someone has disconnected it?

If anyone could help me with the problem i would be really greatfull

Cheers Steve

Hi,

As mentioned, try a new battery for the remote.
Does it mak a clicking sound? Pronounced? May be on the way out..
Have you another remote?

If not, scour ebay for remotes, but make sure it is the right type. Yours has 2 buttons, one ot Arm/lock and disarm/unlock and the aother to "panic" the system.

Or go to a dealer for a new remote at about £35-£40 each. They can also tell you how to program the remotes to your car (basically: get in car, close door, key in ignition, turn key to point II and back to off 4 times then to II leave and then press the arm/disarm button on one remote, then same button on next remote within 10 seconds etc until all remotes programmed).

Des. . .
