Default Tapping noise brake pump

I dont know whether I didn’t notice before, but now I have its doing my nut in.

When using ACC, Pilot Assist or even the footbrake hold I’m getting this Woodpecker style tapping as the car brakes, its not the relay click from the dashboard that does one or two clicks as it adjusts speeds, this is more like 8-10 rapid taps in about 2 seconds.

Very noticeable when the car is navigating in stop start queues.

I’m assuming its the brake pump as its related to bring the car to a halt, its not the whirring od the parking brake motors, its more like Woody Woodpecker under the bonnet.

Anyone else got this, or maybe a fault?

I get this but only when using the auto brake hold thingy in traffic jams. I can feel it through the pedal. I assume it is a stepper motor taking up the strain on the brake pedal in rather a crude fashion. I usually leave the auto hold off mainly for that reason

It does not happen to my XC90, wonder why it does on your V90.

I dont think it done it when it was new, started at about 4 months, hopefully I havent alerted you to it, you now hear it and does your nut in!

Only does it during automated braking.

My car does this, its very annoying. Strangely it never does it when its at the Volvo dealer!

It seems to be most frequent when stopping gently and then not removing my foot immediately.

Does anyone know what it is?

All the talk of that on here is the main reason I walked right by the XC90 To look at the V90 after parting ways with the XC60. It’s obviously cheaper as well, more economic and I didn’t need row 3 cementing the opinion.

Mine has done it from new. And every time. Never thought to ask the dealer as I thought it was a feature.
