Poor starting and no tickover when cold
I have a 2001 S40 2.0T. It has recently started misbehaving when cold. It will only start with the throttle slightly depressed and it will not tickover until it is really warm. The engine management light keeps coming on and then goes off a couple of days later! Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Poor starting and no tickover when cold
Hi Dave,
You really need to get the fault codes checked as to why the engine management warning light is coming on, but I would have an each-way bet that the Coolant Temperature Sensor is at least on the list, if not the only item. Faulty CTS may also throw up codes relating to Oxygen/Lambda Sensor and Fuel Strategy, but I would change the CTS first. Good Luck, Adam |

Hi Adam
Many thanks for your advice - I'll get the CTS checked out. Thanks again, Dave |
