Real life driving conditions to and from work. 502.6miles on 45.19litres Had several "tries" at 50mpg during the summer driving real careful, no short journeys etc and managed high 49s. This one just ame out of the blue, better than the 44-47mpg I usually get. |

RE: 50.5mpg :)
Once managed to get 467 miles out of my '99 V40 T4 between filling up. Can't remember what the computer said, but I do remember putting 60L back in, so that works out at 35.3 mpg.
Recently drove from near Glasgow to near London. 420 miles in just under 6 hours. Only changed gear 3 times and braked 4 times. All steady driving at around the legal limit and averaged 33.5 mpg. Are T4s good or what! |

Nice one! We have just bought 99 V40TD for a very reasonable price on ebay so it seems running it is going to be reasonable as well. That is more than 10MPL!

RE: 50.5mpg :)
I do about 350 miles per week which is a mixture of dual carriageway and town driving. I average between 49 and 50 mpg. I'm quite pleased as Volvo's combined figure for the engine is about 52mpg and on most cars you never get anywhere near the manufacturers figures.

Commendable, but you have the advantadge of a much better, in both terms of economy and power, engine
Book figures for mine are 90hp and 44.8mpg combined. It is not like I am driving particullarly slowly either. It's a 40 mile journey and I cover it in 40-45mins, any longer and I'm late for work! |

Don't rub it in :D
I'm going to replace the thermostat in my S40 1.8 as I'm convinced it's not working properly (the heater is cr*p when the weather is cold) and the fuel consumption varies between awful and "acceptable".
