Default S40 or V40

Hey All,

Quick Q...

I'm thinking of swapping my V40 for a newer one at the end of the year while it still has some trade in value.

I want a T4 but they seem to have stoped making them for the Dutch market in about 2001 and I want a newer car than that this time.

So it's going to be another 2.0T, but I want a low milage engine that I can play with to get some more umph.

Idealy I'd love another V40, I prefer the shape to the S40 and it's a little more practicle. However I can get a 2004/5 S40 for 2002/3 V40 money and therefor have more for the chip and bleedvalve I'm planning.

Question is is the S40 as nice to drive? How accessable is the book? In the V40 it's quite difficult to load up due to the large amount of space taken up by the wheel arches, but this is made up for by having the hieght if the book to stack up to. How much can you fit in an S40?

Oh, obviously classic S40 rather than new shape...

Stu

Hi Stu.

Get another 2.0T and then you can buy my 'widget' and get instant T4 performance.

PM me if interested.

S40s are great. I have had 2 and they have the same wheelbase as the estate.

Cheers,
Dan.

There's not a great deal of difference between the S40 and V40 for driving,
The boot on the S40 is a pain though you are restricted by the aperture big boxes just won't go also there is extra metal seat support bracketing behind the seat which also restrict acess into the main cabin see photo.

I'm fortunate at my parents have a V40 and they only live down the road so I borrow their car when needed.

Cheers. I'd put your widget on my 2.0T V40, but decided to wait till I have a newer engine (i.e. not already 200K km's on the clock...) If you still have it in 6 months I'll definately be in touch :)

Looking at the pictures it's about what I was expecting size wise in the boot. Guess I'll have to use my in laws V40 more when we got ot ikea... At least it looks like suitcases and things will go in nicely.
