Default RE: blue smoke on start up

Used to be on older Fords this meant that the valve stem oil seals had hardened and were letting oil through. Sound like the same problem. There was a quick fix which done away with removal of the cylinder head which involved removal of spark plugs and stuffing cord/string into cylinder, one at a time, turning engine by hand till the cylinder is at top of its stroke and then this would allow removal/replacement of seals. Maybe someone has developed a tool for doing the job by now. I would not know if it could be done this way on your engine.
Hope this helps. Good luck
Chris
