£327 last year turned into £499 this year, no other changes - online comparison had a similar policy for £453, called Churchill back and they agreed to £30 below this, so £423.

With my renewal date looming, I got an online quote for our V70 through our current insurer - £257 last year became £430. An online chat resulted in an email from them in which the premium became £480.
The comparison sites were mostly between £400 (Tesco Bank) and £500+. I've been with my current insurer for some years, and they had dealt with my last claim fairly 10+years ago, so I was reluctant to change insurers for a few pounds, so I got in touch yesterday to ask why there was a sudden hike from £430 to £480. I got the usual answers, but I asked if it would make a difference if I dropped my daughter (age 40, clean record) from the policy. Result - premium reduced to £296.

I used the Volvo 7-day 'Driveaway' insurance to collect my 'new' V40 last week - being completely free, it was silly not to take advantage of it - and yesterday entered the details for the car into our Aviva 'multi-car' policy, where it was effectively replacing the C70 that I'd removed last month, and for which I'd had a £95 pro-rata refund (policy renews in early May)...
....the quote came up as £116 for just under four months, which meant for a full year the total would be something over £350, which didn't seem right, as I'd only paid £309 for the C70 T5 - yes, this car's 10 years younger, and obviously worth more, but, at the same time, is in a much lower group (19, instead of 34)...
....so I phoned to query the price, and to explain that the car is fitted with a number of 'extra' safety features - lane-keeping, collision avoidance, driver alert, etc. - which there was no provision for me to add in the quote process...
....the call handler basically said the system is automated, and they have no leeway to make adjustments, and confirmed both the £116 pro-rata quote and that a full year's cover would be £364, so for both cars we'd be looking at £601, up from last year's £498 (which had been slightly less than the previous year)...
....as the Volvo quote that I'd been given on taking out the free policy was £384, for the first time in many years I decided to look around - until now, Aviva has always offered the best option, but seemingly not any longer, as LV's multi-car basically matched the 'old' C70/Micra rate at £495, whilst Admiral also came close at only just over £500...
....aware that multi-car policies don't necessarily always offer the best deals, I decided to look into individual rates - and discovered that Tesco, with the benefit of a 5% Clubcard discount, will cover the V40 now for £250 (Silver) or £299 (Gold), and, in due course, the Micra for £195 (£40+ less than current)...

Hypertension ( high blood pressure) is NOT a notifable condition to the DVLA so the website is wrong.
