I was told recently that they have sold so quickly that Marshalls in Nottingham only have 13 for the rest of the year. Volvo appear to have totally underestimated their appeal.

Given there is huge over-supply as every manufacturer piles into SUVs, it's hardly surprising if Volvo has taken a cautious approach to anticipated volumes. They will be thinking - if we can balance supply to be just below the demand then we can charge full price for every car with the result that we and our dealers make more money. I'm sure they don't want to return to having to heavily discount like they had to do for the original XC60 for the last few years of its life. Whether the XC40 will attain Evoque-like cachet in the long term is very debatable though, especially with the new Evoque so close to be released. Good luck to them. Meanwhile back in the real world, I'm waiting for this time next year to see how things lie and hoping that Volvo's strategy backfires on them and I can buy an XC40 at a big discount otherwise it may have to be a Karoq.

Moderators - please set up a separate XC40 section.

I agree with Acer, there should now be a separate XC40 section. I have had my XC40 First Edition for just over a week now (downsized from XC60) and while the boot space is certainly less, everything else seems great. Its a D4 in Crystal White, and as previously mentioned, has all the extras for an extremely good price.
Still getting used to it, but first impressions are its a great car to drive. |

Another voice to ask for a separate XC40 forum (but then have been banging the drum for months now).
Had mine a few weeks now and would be great to have some where centralised here to talk about it. |

I went to order an XC40 on 9th April and was told expected delivery for a factory order in the UK was now December but I got lucky because someone had cancelled their first edition so I just happened to be at the dealership for a test drive before the sales people were asked to call their customers to sell the first edition. The downside is I wanted a red XC40 with the black roof but this car is the crystal white and black roof. However, the upside is it has a lot more kit for less money than I was looking at for the factory order so overall I'm very pleased! Also I'll now get the car at the end of June.
