Thanks! Will do the same on summer.

While waiting for front brake parts I loosened all the bolts that needed it.
Half the job is getting stuck bolts loose without rounding the boltheads.
The fastener between the brakelines and the hoses are always the worst.
16 years worth of rust means trouble.
Spanner . . . no use. Spanner moves but nut won't. Just continue and you'll be left with a rounded nut. Impact method with a spanner and hammer . . . likewise.
A gas torch on the other hand makes wonders.
When the parts arrive the job will be done fairly quickly and painlessly.

I gradually started piecing mine back together today after a welding marathon on all four sill corners, under the back seat and rear of the inner wings. The car was so close to scrap that it spent the best part of a year getting filled up with scrap metal.

I finally after 4 years fitted the transverse roof bars I bought, so I can transport a piece of furniture later. Fitted first time, easy as pie, and just need to buy some new ratchet straps as I've lost mine!

I came to the same conclusion BUT...a word of warning. I was working on my S60 trying to loosen the connection between the flex hose and the solid line and I heated it up for 2min and walked away from the car...just as I did the flex line exploded sending hot brake fluid everywhere. Lucky that I walked away as I had neglected to put on safety glasses!!! Apparently these popping of their crimp ends is a common occurrence when heated. Now I know.

Drove it around Stoke-on-Trent for a couple of days, making use of the rear booster seat for a 5 year old

301k on the clock now, and not skipping a beat yet, it always makes me smile

Did the honourable thing and selling my winter wheels & 2 spare Craters on eBay, not much interest on here so hopefully a Mitsubishi fan will like them.

Continued filling mine with Waxoyl, and then started to put the rebuilt front suspension in the car. This is fast becoming a full restoration project, on a car which was about to go to scrap.

ordered another round of consumables, the list of which seems to get longer as the car ages,, swore at the peeling clear coat on the boot + passenger door ,,, next will be fit all the parts when (if) they arrive, get the crap clear coat sanded off and find a Decent body shop to repair it,, then take a DEEP dive into the wallet for a new volvo cat for the car,, the down pipes have rusted out ,,, and the local recommended exhaust shop ,, have fitted what amounts to a pile of sh*t , that rattles , bangs and clangs off the car While the cat is rattling around inside the metal work,, and do Not want to do a dam thing about it,, so if your in birmingham Avoid
