HU803 swap
As with a lot of users on the forum, my Hu803 is now starting to play up. I eventually want to fit a 7" flat screen system, but don't have the money or the time at present. So.................. I went looking on Ebay. I know that like the DIM, if you don't get one with the same serial number its probably not going to work. However, I saw one that says “STEREO DECODED WILL NOT ASK FOR A SECURITY CODE WHEN INSTALLED”
From anyone's experience, does this means that if I buy it - It will work? Not sure what was done to decode it, but if it will work, I'll probably get it as a stop gap until I can afford a touch screen. thanks

Thanks. I might put up with the intermittent nature of the unit for a while until I can fund a flat screen system.

My understanding of the way that V70 P2 radios work, they aren't coded in the sense that they are not matched to an individual car. The reason that they often don't work is that Volvo changed the instruction codes, this is certainly true pre and post facelift. Other models, especially later cars, do have radios that are coded, for these you need software downloads to install a new factory radio. The only audio downloads for the V70 P2 where to enable 'extras' eg steering controls, separate power amp or a factory sub. The software updates simply change the way the system turns signals on and off. If you remove a factory unit and fit an aftermarket unit you don't need to update the software, there is an update for 'audio remove' but there is no need or advantage to using it.
