Without both codes, we can't assume the engines are identical.

Does this help?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oPODaaGhlmI Your engine code should be something like D5244Txx where x stands for a number Not sure if that final x or xx is marked on the block, though. Quick look at the manuals for my09 and my10 show that yours could be t4 t5 t10 t14, t15...... Last edited by 1monkey600; Apr 21st, 2018 at 12:05. Reason: Added possible codes |

On my receipt it states "engine Volvo MK3 reg year 2008 Manual 2400cc diesel turbo charged Engine Number 605086." So the only clue I have is the engine number at the end - I don't know how I can check to see what that refers to without having access to a Volvo database. What I can say is the scrap merchant has a very good reputation with mechanics/tradesmen in the Edinburgh area - they supply a lot of garages here & returns are never an issue - I can't see there being any problem at their end. |

The engine code as per the cover of the timing belt is D5244T. Do they need coded for this?

The only details, number wise, supplied from the scrap merchants is engine number 605086, which I'd imagine is the serial number as per the above - no doubt allocated to the same engine code? |

The engine serial numbers are 668454 for the original and appears to be 605086 for the replacement. I'd suspect these both belong to the D5244T family? |

That's the thing...... D5244T ended in 2005 so is definitely not your engine code.
You will need a D5244T?? (??) denotes an additional single or double digit. Your earlier claim that the engines are definitely the same still isn't reliable so if the engine supplier is as good as you say, they will very quickly be able to give you the exact engine code they have supplied you.
