Default how to disable DRLs using VIDA

I've a 2012 S60 SE Lux (D3). I read a few posts about how to switch off the DRLs using VIDA, but when I connect VIDA and read the CEM module, there doesn't appear any option to reprogramme the DRLs (I can see the status of the lights etc, but in the Advanced tab there are no reprogramming options). Am I looking in the wrong place or have Volvo moved control of the DRLs to a different module?

Not sure about yours specifically, but some models/years do need a software update downloaded from Volvo using a legit Vida subscription to enable switching of headlights/DRLs

European Directive 76/656/EEC, as amended by 2008/89/EC, concerning the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices on motor vehicles and their trailers.
Vehicle manufacturers must fit DRL to new types of passenger car and light goods vehicle (car derived vans) type approved to European vehicle requirements from February 2011.

Your local dealer or indy can install a software patch to make your lights operate on/off. About £25.
I think from about 2013 onwards it became compulsory to have DRL's on permanently.
Thanks nanny EU.

If its headlights used as DRL then they can be disabled by a dealer as headlights used as DRL never met the requirements for type approval of Drl. If its proper Drl then they can't be disabled.

Oh and it needs a proper Volvo subscription so can't be done using didgy clones.

many thanks for the replies. Looks like my clone VIDA has met its match! It was just a preference to have them under manual control.. Will stick with them for now but otherwise a trip to an indie/dealer.

All my lights are on with the DLR. I was quoted £96 to turn them off. What a bargain....NOT !!!!

Studies have shown a 15% reduction in fatal multi-vehicle collisions where DRLs are fitted.

Is there any reason for turning them off?

My previous car didn't have DRLs - but I turned lights on every time I turned the key!

Agree. Proper DRLs are a great safety feature. Where I have a problem is where proper headlights are lit in proper daylight. It always seems to me to be a waste of bulb life and 2 x 55w power. The earlier 'dim-dip' implementation seemed a better solution, but this (I think) went out of favour.
