Injectors XC90 D5
Hi
XC90 2004 D5244T I have been having occasional, sometimes repeated starting issues with the car. I have a code reader and have found an injector problem. The codes are ECM 2311 (injector 1) and ECM-2313 (Injector 3). Am I right the number injectors are left to right as you look at the car from the bonnet? Also, does anyone have previous experience with the codes? Do the injectors require removal and cleaning? Replacement? Or would a fuel additive be beneficial? Once running I dont notice any issues with the car, only when starting. Sometimes it will start no problem. Any advice, tips or experience much appreciated. Thank you |

ECM-2311
Condition The control signal to the injectors is supplied from a high power injector driver which is integrated in the engine control module (ECM). There is one driver per injector. The high power injector driver uses the coil in the injector as part of its circuit. The voltage levels are higher than battery voltage. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-2311, -2312, -2313, -2314 or -2315 is stored depending on the injector if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the wiring for the injector when the engine is running. Substitute value None. Possible source Faulty signal: -Defective charging system -Open-circuit in the signal cable or ground lead -Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable -Short-circuit to battery voltage in the signal cable or ground lead -Defective injector -Defective engine control module (ECM). Faulty power supply: -Loose connections or oxidation in the battery terminals -Fault in the power supply to the engine control module (ECM). Fault symptom[s] -The engine fails to start -The engine is not firing on all cylinders.

Checking components and wiring
Check the injector connector. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check the resistance of the injector. Check the control signal cables between engine control module (ECM) terminals #A52 (#A52) and #A70 (#B10) and injector terminal #1. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit. Check the control signal cables between engine control module (ECM) terminal #A51 (#A51) and #A69 (#B09) and injector terminal #2. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit. Check the control signal cables for the injector. Check for a short-circuit to each other. Other information: -Checking wiring and terminals -To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the test box -For information about signals, see Signal specification -For the component specification, see Component specifications -To access or replace the injector, seeInjectors and delivery lines, replacing -To access or replace the engine control module (ECM), see Engine control module (ECM), replacing .
