Thats interesting to know. I wasn't sure if just moving them would be enough.
How difficult was it to get the centers out and what did you do about lining them up for re-welding ?

I decided to get spacers for my car so it would be easy to get replacement wheels if needed, one of the reasons I didn't go looking for RWD Volvo alloys.

I used 17" Peugeot wheels for my 240, the fronts have the centres pushed in, but the rears have been flipped.

If you intend to use the 17" Peugeot wheels, use the 7" ones, don't be tempted by the 7.5" as they have ugly centres.

A friend at a local engineering company did mine, not an easy task by all accounts as once the centres are out they do not want to go back in again!
They had a wheel balancer (handily) which was used to spin the wheels to check and adjust how true the rim was before final welding.

Very nice, do you have any pics of them fitted? And can you give us a rough idea of how much the modifications to the wheels cost?

I think i'll go for the 17s with the centres moved to correct the offset, I might run them for a while while i decide if they need banding. I can probably move the centres my self and get my pro welder mate to weld them up again as a favour.

Thanks for all the input so far.

Sorry, no fitted pics, the car is still in loads of pieces...

Difficult to say on price really as the job was a bit of an experiment, and I get preferential rates, but I think my friend charges £25/hour, so to cut the centres out, move them, true them and weld them, would cost at least £100-150 I'd have thought? Add the cost of the wheels, and refinishing after modification and it definitely isn't a cheap option.

That's what I was expecting. Probably no cheaper an option than 850/V70/Jag wheels + spacers then, like I went for. Yours will look amazing though! I do really like deep dish steels.. I had the money I'd get a set 15's banded for my winter tyres!

Apart from using second hand wheels and welding yourself if you're confident it seems there is still no cheap option of 17's on these buses!

Always cheap options but they tend to look it. I hate all the flat fronted modern alloys that come from everything being fwd these days.

Im happy to pay extra for dish, it always looks better.
