Default Volvo S60 d5 2002 problems.

Hi there,my name is Lucian and I’m new on this forum because I recently bought a Volvo S60 d5 2002.
I love the car and if it’s possible with your help to make it running better again.
Issue with the car:
-white smoke when idle and black heavy smoke in any gear. (If you see me on London streets don’t yell at me)
-Fixes for this problem with no result, clean the Egr valve and tubing.
-replace turbo solenoid valve
-cure diesel with different products (0efects)
-use premium diesel
-change oil,oil filter,air filter,pollen filter.
Still smoking.
Second problem as I seen the clutch of the AC compressor it’s always engaged but cold air inside the cabin it’s not coming. Only when the fan is off and the reconciliation button it’s set on neutral and sometimes if I turn the fan on some vapours coming thru the main air vent.
I’m looking for a decent service or independent mechanic because I’m tired of street corners garages who are just trying to rip me off.
Thanks in advance for your help.

That's the ac radiator not your intercooler.
The intercooler is the middle radiator and needs checking all around for oil and/or distortion.

thanks for the photo but as I see I have to disassemble first to check.
I was thinking if there is oil present on the ac radiator I was thinking its for sure from the intercooler. Any advice for a local garage in Enfield or an independent garage where I can go? My previous garage changes the solenoid valve pump at a very high price but no result, heavy smoke it's still present.

An intercooler with 'issues' will typically bow underneath and be a source of oil, both of which you can check from front underside without any disassembly.

It's certainly likely and you can of course make any assumption you choose.

Black smoke suggests over fuelling which is most commonly caused by an air leak which in turn can lead to over boosting and a leaking intercooler.

There's a lot of pipework, unions and controls (VNT mechanism, VNT actuator, brake booster leak, vacuum pump leak, engine mounts) which could just as easily be failing too though so you need to check the whole system.

If you change the intercooler but the root cause is an air leak elsewhere or sticking VNT, you'll still have overboost and most likely ruin the new intercooler over time.

thank you guys for taking time to reply to my post, I will end up again to my local garage then and ask them to fully check everything. I hope it will not cost me another small fortune.

I plug in my OBD generic reader and I received this error, P0244 turbo/sup wastegate solenoid A range/performance.
I erased but the car it's still under heavy black smoke.

Might be worth reading the sticky at the top of the forum relating ECM6805 as P0244 is a generic code that often translates to the Volvo specific code ECM6805. Could be any number of things as others have pointed out. Could be an air leak, poor vacuum / vacuum leak, engine mounts, split hose, soft hose, MAF issue, etc. It often points to an air / fuel imbalance for one reason or another.
Can be quite difficult to pin down so you need to be systematic in your investigation approach.
Good luck, hope it's an easy fix
