To be fair, it's a fair bit of work to change them over. Initially the dealership opted to fit them for free-until they realised how many hours of labour were involved and therefore the cost.

List price is in the region of £550 for the inlays alone. Seeing as they are no longer going to fit them for free, we've negotiated a very different price, and I'll do it.

There's 3 parts for the dash, a piece for each door (with various options on its shape, depending on which sound system you've had), and then there's two sections for the central console sliding cover.

If you're not used to dismantling a car and don't have access to VIDA, then I would suggest you pay to let someone who knows what they're doing carefully do it for you. It is a lot of work for what many would consider a non issue.
It's all very subjective and I respect that.

Whilst the dash (and the door cards for that matter), are pretty straightforward, the central floor console requires removal as a unit, and to get that out the driver's seat needs to be removed.

I'll do a nice 'how to' once I've done mine!

The walnut is very nice but I think personally sligtly overrated compared to Birch. Would not be too hung up of you get Birch since the interior still really pops and looks astonishing. And something different compared to many many many other people all going with walnut.

I wish there was some decent images of the birch.

Dealer is now quoting potentially Nov for walnut.

I could do the dash and doors but the central console sounds a pain. As a compromise, I might consider this: http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-...CC-491444/2017 and leave the central console as it is.

I've ordered the blond interior but prefer a black steering wheel. This accessory black one is tempting: http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-...CC-491445/2017

I considered the Dark Birch but was put put off by the gloss finish which seems at odds with the contemporary design elsewhere in the cabin. By contrast, the matt finish on the Linear Walnut looks perfectly suited.

I couldn't find any UK pricing, although I haven't really searched much.

US prices are surprisingly cheap for the accessory Linear Walnut but it says RHD versions are discontinued. It's not clear if it's them or Volvo that has stopped supplying them.

On the other hand the steering wheel is surprisingly expensive, especially as the airbag, switches, etc are carried over from the old wheel:

In the UK, I'd expect to pay the dollar amount in sterling.

B&W sound system is 2/3 the price in the US - almost makes it worth having

Dealer rang me today passing on the VIN which has been assigned, along with the news that the interior decor inlays are in, as a parts order.

Hopefully not long now
