Reminds me of Windows 95 or Vista. It should be like Windows 7.
You might be closer to the truth than you think. My understanding is that:

1- Volvo does not develop sensus. It is develop by a German company called mielco.

2-it is windows based

To me, Windows is a unstable platform by design. Tesla has done Linux for his.

So, an update:

After the fun and games of Saturday the car stayed put all day Sunday and I got in it today (Monday) to come to work. It has therefore had a long rest to figure out where it is.

This morning the car, unfortunately, thought it was still in a field in Hereford. I drove to work and now it thinks it is heading to Builth Wells.

And when the open the VOC app, it reports that the car is in Lisburn in Northern Ireland!

I continue to have no idea how this is even possible.

If I did crash I am assuming that the SOS system would send the ambulance to either Mid Wales, Northern Ireland, or perhaps the SOS would send the ambulance to Scotland just so that we can cover all 4 countries of the union......

Battery reset tonight I think.....

I have been out and done a battery reset. Very strangely the car went completely dead with just the negative terminal disconnected this time. When I have done it previously the car was still properly alive with just the negative and so previously I had to do positive as well to get it to power down.

Anyway, after a few days of the sat nav bumbling around in Mid Wales and Herefordshire, the car now thinks it is in Scunny which is exactly where it actually is, so that is progress.

Unfortunately the App for the car shows the car as being in the middle of the Irish sea and I have rebooted the phone and refreshed the VOC app too, so I am not sure what is going on there. In fact I am not even sure how that is possible.

Maybe dealers at some point if the app doesn't correct itself on it's own.

Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it and re registering it with the car. If that is possible.

You can also get a desktop App for Windows 10 if that helps?

EDIT: That would prove whether its the App rather than the car or the Volvo "Cloud" that is wrong.

Right, another update.

After a night to sleep on it, I looked at the VOC app this morning and it said the car was at my house which a quick glance out of the window thankfully confirmed that it was indeed the case.

I have driven to work and now the car position on the VOC app is at work, so it seems to have corrected itself.

Interestingly, just coming to work this morning the sensus screen decided to reboot itself which has never happened before. There was a message momentarily displayed on the dash but I didn't read it in time, then the centre screen went blank and rebooted. Will have to see if that is a new feature or a one off.

So, battery reset wins for the 3rd time, and the software has only resulted in the car being trailored away once...

The score so far: Software glitches 1 : Battery reset 3

Hopefully the recent issues with nothing online working will have rattled some key people at Volvo. I would hope they are now having major reviews to take corrective and preventative action for the future. It must be very embarrassing.

Thanks for the update. Assuming your 2016 is up to date with all the SW fixes?

I am thinking of calling my dealer today and having a chat in general, to see how much he is aware of these SW issues? and what he feels Volvo is doing o sort these out.

Since my car is still in the factory I am hoping he will try and get some useful response or an update from Volvo to keep a customer.
