When I met with Volvo Sweden representatives last month I was non too complementary about the media player. I even quoted Walter Eagles comment from this post last year: "...did you get this software from some 14-year-old lad hanging around the back of Gothenburg railway station..."

The inability to pick folders, the way it uses MP3 tags, the odd choices it decides when to play things in order and when to mix things up, the lack of repeat facilities except when I don't want it to, ...

Now, there is no way they have listed to just one person (me) and decided to sort things out, and there is no way they would have done it this quickly even if they had. But hopefully they have listed to lots of people over a period of time. Hopefully they have actually thought about how people use a media player and categorise/classify their music collection. Hopefully they will have done something to improve it - God forbid I just hope they have not made it worse

And still no concurrent display of ETA and RTA. Unbelievable.

Do people really need the ETA & RTA? I've only ever been concerned with the ETA. I suppose I just do the maths automatically for RTA.

I find the time it gives you is rather useless as it keeps changing (getting later). The one thing I don't like about the navigation is the relatively poor awareness of traffic and calculating an accurate arrival time.

For longer journeys I'll likely have Google maps loaded on the phone to see how the two compare and Google is always more accurate and is better at choosing the most efficient route.

Its a shame as I much prefer the idea of the integrated maps.

Over a 600 mile weekend trip, I'd used Sensus navigation, whilst parallelly running Google Maps on the phone.

I must say I am impressed with Sensus navigation. Here are the things I liked:

- If you maximise the view on the central screen, Sensus navigation comes to life

- In maximised view, click on the 'Ahead' button, and you get a view of POIs and traffic. The POI view shows all your upcoming Motorway services, their distance to you and the Traffic view shows where the delays are. Very useful.

- Zoom in a bit more than the default, and the central display become very handy, with clear graphics.

The navigation was on par with Google Maps. I am more likely to use Sensus navigation now, as the Google Maps via Android Auto is unable to use the full screen, and also not available on HUD.

Yes, I agree that it is as good as any out there. Maybe the 3D view is a bit naff, but otherwise I like it very much.
If only it actually knew where the car was, consistently. Mine regularly loses the plot, quite literally. Worse, it can't be easily reset to get the plot back.

A satellite navigation system that can't be relied on to navigate is quite useless no matter how good it is when its actually working.

Come on Volvo, get this sorted!

Default No new Sensus as yet

My car went in for a software update yesterday as I've been getting the battery warnings ever since an update in January, and also to have a service. Its come back with no visual changes to Sensus.

As a slight aside, I purchased the boot liner via the offer on the Volvo Website back in March but hadn't got around to picking it up. Called the parts department on Tuesday, paid over the phone and asked them to sling it in the boot when my car was in for service. The car was dropped back at my home yesterday evening with boot liner not just slung in the boot, but fitted! What service!
