Default Quick Anti Skid service message question

I've looked on the various threads about the Anti Skid Service message, but I couldn't find an answer to this question.

Each time this message has come up on my D3 car, the engine has gone into either Limp Mode, or multi-cylinder misfire. When the message isn't showing - it's intermittent- the engine's fine.

So, is this what usually happens?

Thanks

On many models, the signals from the ABS sensors tell the vehicle what speed it's going (for speedo, gearbox, etc) and a problem there could bring up the anti-skid message. However, to avoid the guesswork, get the fault codes read with VIDA and it will pinpoint the cause.

Firstly, apologies for not replying sooner, and thanks for the reply.

The only faults that come up seem to refer to the misfire, and I've had all injectors checked. When the anti skid message is NOT displayed ( it's intermittent) there's no misfire.

When the anti skid service required appears there will be a stored fault code even if the message disappears when you restart the car.

What code reader was used to read the codes? You need to use Vida Dice. Some readers don't read every module.

Default It’s happened again.....

After about a year without any problem, the 'anti skid service required' message came up today, while doing around 60mph on a flat dual carriageway. Lost most power, and as I rolled to a halt the engine cut out completely.

Restarted, message gone, engine fine. About a mile or so further on, it happened again, but again ok when I restarted the engine. Mrs B got out the manual, and found reference to the DSTC, and how to switch it off.

Did this, and had a trouble free 100+ miles trip home.

I’ll contact a fairly local Volvo specialist indie tomorrow, for VIDA reading, and presumably new ABS rings?

Default Curiouser and curiouser....

Well, I’m confused, not that it takes much!

Had the car on Volvo diagnostics today, no fault recorded..... road tested, no problems.

Do I trust the car?

Do I cut my losses and get rid?
