XC60 2015 D4 AWD EXtended Warranty option

I have an XC60 AWD D4 R design reg date dec 2015 fitted with driver support pack. I bought the car used from volvo early this year and have now received an email from the dealer offering an extended warranty once the manufacturers one ends (although I still have an additional 2 months under the volvo selekt warranty). Reading other threads regarding extended warranty, I went direct to volvo uk customer support and they have given me a tel number for the service plan team or an email for allianz-assistance. Looking at the allianz warranty site, a comprehensive 1 year comprehensive warranty for my vehicle would be £680 with zero excess. Ideally I would want 2 years as I tend to keep the vehicle for 3 years. Am wondering if the tel number provided by volvo would result in a lower price but at this stage has anyone any experience of extended warranty from allianz, prices, issues etc? Any information or advice appreciated

My Volvo Selekt warranty is through car plan. I was quoted £480 for one year after my initial one year dealer offer expired.

I shopped about and phoned Volvo directly, however this was the best price. I did see other packages available, however considering the hassle it would cause, I find it easier to say that I have a Volvo Selekt warranty. The difference between the major players was only £20-£30 pound.

I decided not to buy an extra warranty when the Selekt one ended.

I did get a price from Volvo and other companies. Volvo did not budge on the price on the renewal letter. I got several follow up emails/calls from other warranty companies. In the end it came down by about 30% of the initial quote.

So if you decide to take out a warranty, get the quote now but wait a few weeks before taking out the policy.

Last car I had I took out Volvo extended warranty with car care in my opinion it was the best first year renewal was £299 and following year was £399
Has it went up in price?? Mine still under manufacturing waranty very low miles

I’ve just extended my warranty for £390 on my V60 Cross Country. When I asked them at the time of buying my car they were talking in and around the £850 mark but when the Warranty extension letter came quoting £390, I took it.
It’s a years peace of mind.

Just curious but who did you get the letter from? I have had an email from the dealer I bought it from but only saying to contact them for a "personal quote"! I have contacted Volvo UK and they originally pointed me at allianz warranty. I checked that and it was quoting £850 for their comprehensive no excess warrant. However, later that day another volvo uk person sent me a link to the volvo warranty extension web site that would allow me to on the spot buy a warranty for £450. So can I expect a letter from (???) before my manufacturers warranty expires end of December with an actual quote?

We went with MotorEasy - their price got negotiated down to £660 for a 2 year plan, paid in 6 x monthly instalments. I think they started around 720....
Of course I haven't had to claim (13 months in!) so as with ANY insurance, I have NO idea whether it was as good as it sounded....hoping to reach the end of that in the same position!
& still wondering what I would buy next: the XC60 is such a capable vehicle (& the new one is such a lot more money!!)

Long time member, still an avid reader, but rarely post these days as there are so many more knowledgeable members than me. This discussion does interest me as my D4 XC60 is 4yrs old late November and I'm mulling over warranty options.

Last year I went with the Volvo (car care plan) one as at £395 it was competitive, gave access to dealer repairs and Volvo parts although (unlike others) excluded ANY wear and tear. This year the premium to continue with them is £595 (ouch!) and from what's already been posted it doesn't look like they'll budge on price.

The options I'm now considering are all coming in +/- £400-450 for top levels of cover including no excess, dealer labour rates, high single claim figures, cover for air bag system, emissions (DPF/EGR),multi media, air con etc. They are:
Warranty Direct: Insured scheme and largest supplier of vehicle warranties with plenty of exceptions but all major areas included in top priced plan. Covered by FSCS if they go bust and with access to both the Financial Services and Motoring Ombudsman in case of a dispute. Provides “What Car” magazine branded warranty.
Warrantywise: None insured, discretionary scheme (no FSCS protection if they go bump) fronted by self proclaimed motorists champion Quentin Wilson which appears to give wider cover but isn't a member of any Ombudsman scheme, Quentin being the final arbiter in any dispute.
Motoreasy: Set up by the original founder of Warranty Direct Duncan McClure Fisher. Not insured so no FSCS protection but are members of the Motoring Ombudsman Scheme. Again, whilst discretionary, do appear to cover more things than the insured schemes. Recommended by Honest John amongst others.

My reason for considering another extended warranty is that I'm not a DIYer and modern motors can be spectacularly expensive if they go wrong. I'm not overly concerned if I have to find a few hundred quid for a repair but I'd rather have cover for peace of mind in case it runs into thousands.

Car is booked in for 4yr service & MOT on 13/11 and I won't be making a decision before then but would be interested in any comments, observations or experiences of the above schemes or alternative suggestions.

Regarding click4warranty, from memory I didn't think their cover was comparable with the Volvo extended warranty - lower claims limit, use their garages, not as extensive parts wise etc. With an older car that may be less important.

Car care plan does cover certain wear and tear items i.e. Seat covers it also covers brake judder but not pads in my opinion I thinks it's just as good as Volvo original warranty in my opinion first year was 299 then 399 it may have went up but I'll be looking at that one next December
