Hi curry munster, I agree with CNGBifuel regarding volvo quality. Although Skandix may not have a specific kit for your engine they will compile a kit for you from individual parts. Give them your VIN number. They are cheaper than Volvo.

Tried again and turned harder and when it stopped it made the whole engine dip by half to an inch on the cambelt end?
Will turn through and become easy again but is the same in the same spot.
Crawled under and looked while turning - I think it's a faulty inner CV joint.
When driving straight its fine but when you jack it off the ground the driveshaft is then not straight and the inner CV joint does not like it.
Dodgy thing to do but i started it up and slipped it into first and let the clutch out and it really
rumbled while both front wheels were off the ground.

Is it possible that the inner CV joint could be damaged in transit and half come apart.
I say this as the box was broken in half when the driver handed it to me.

I'll have to give J and R Driveshafts a call on Monday.

Let me know what you guys think??
On my TDi the steering always feels weird and kicks back after I've had the CV joint out of the hub. Winding the wheel from lock to lock a few times while driving slowly seems to sort it out. My theory was that one or more of the bearings on the inner CV has got stuck at one end.

I'm not sure if it's the same as your issue but it's worth a try.

Update,
Another new driveshaft on offside at twice the price and most shuddering gone.
Old Volvo driveshaft back on Nearside and all shuddering gone.
That confirms it. the driveshafts were the problem.

As for the PCV my model being the later one has a metal coolant pipe wrapped up within it
and the kit is £235 as quoted by FRF Motors, The volvo dealer in Wales.

He did say its rare for the non turbo ones to fail and if so what else would cause the rear and poss the front cam shaft seals to blow bearing in mind it's a 99 with 135000 miles??

Oh, and also it's pinking under load which means timing but You can't time these. Am I forced to go to dealer for a software update or is there something I can do??
