Default Shuddering while bearing left or right at 30Mph+

Hi everyone
Got a few issues trying to get my wife's V70 back up to good order.
Its a 1999 Classic shape V70 XT
20 valve 170hp
B5244s

Right the first thing is the PCV system.
I can't seem to find it for my engine non turbo.
Does anyone know a part number or where to get it from?
I've found individual on partsforvolvo so does anyone know the part numbers
for individual.
Couple of places have said Main Stealer only??

Second thing and prop more important!!
Just changed both wishbones due to balljoints and both driveshaft due to worn
inner cv joints.
Now got a shuddering when bearing left or right but not on the straight.
Does it under harsh braking too when straight line. not tested braking while turning!!
Did offside first and got shuddering when bearing left. Thought it maybe the left balljoint
vibrating when load taken off so ordered for the otherside.
Now does it on both sides??
Driveshafts are R and J driveshafts from Birmingham. Used them before no problem
Wishbones are Delphi which I believe to be good.
Would the rubber ring/spacer/damper that goes between the outer cv joint and the hub assembly missing cause it. they fell apart on one side and the nearside was already missing.
the shuddering is almost like the abs working but it is not the abs.

So --- Driveshafts or Wishbone??

Not sure what part you mean for the PCV system, if it's the oil seperator this is available from PFS, it's located under the inlet manifold so that has to come off, the rest of the system comprises hoses and a flame trap.
As for the front problems, if you've just changed ball joints / control arms and drive shafts these should be okay but worth checking nut/bolts are tight etc
Did you use new d/shafts or s/hand?
Not sure what part fell off, hope it's not the abs reluctor ring?

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
I have read a lot that the hoses all break when removed so was looking for the whole lot as
one or both of the cam shaft oil seals has started leaking i think due to pressure of a blocked PCV.
The part that fell off is not the ABS ring. its a plastic/rubber ring. it is located right next to the
ABS ring. it slips over the driveshaft up to the cv joint and then fits between the cv joint and the hub assembly. Don't know what it is called to be able to find a replacement online.
All nuts and bolts are tight and torqued up - even the hub bolt.
need to find this shuddering as the MOT is due in a week or two???

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yours is the 2.5 which I can find.
Mine is the later engine that was in the facelift models.
Engine number B5244s which is a 2.4 with 4 valves per cylinder.
I'll check them out though - Thankyou

Is there a way of testing the top strut mounts and bearings.
Maybe that is the cause.
I did wonder if discs are warped and they were doing it before but the very worn balljoints were hiding it????????

Hi currymunster, if Skandix cant help contact Simon at FRF motors in Wales, he gives forum members a discount. He quoted about £104.00 for a pcv kit for my car.The kit includes the hoses that you will need.

May have solved the shuddering??

Jacked the whole front up to check the struts and happened to notice the offside wheel
would not turn. Maybe in gear I thought and no it's not.
Tried again and turned harder and when it stopped it made the whole engine dip by half to an inch on the cambelt end?
Will turn through and become easy again but is the same in the same spot.
Crawled under and looked while turning - I think it's a faulty inner CV joint.
When driving straight its fine but when you jack it off the ground the driveshaft is then not straight and the inner CV joint does not like it.
Dodgy thing to do but i started it up and slipped it into first and let the clutch out and it really
rumbled while both front wheels were off the ground.

Is it possible that the inner CV joint could be damaged in transit and half come apart.
I say this as the box was broken in half when the driver handed it to me.

I'll have to give J and R Driveshafts a call on Monday.

Let me know what you guys think??

You really don't want a Volvo PCV on there anyway. It's junk. Strictly for bodgers. That's why it needs changing.

Don't lash it up.

Do it properly as the FAQ, and do it for less, and be done.
