[QUOTE=James_N;2434601] I'm not sure what Is meant on the ribbon about three turns left or right but as there is only one lead to reconnect I'm not sure you can do it wrong?

It means do not turn the driving mechanism more than 3 full turns left or right. For example, if you have the steering column disconnected you can just turn the steering wheel round and round. What it is telling you is do not turn more than 3 turns either way if that makes sense.

I’d take my chances with 6ft of bonnet and whacking great engine between me and the crash - and what’s the chances of a 20 year old + airbag deploying as intended? I doubt whether it’s been serviced since new.

Cheers

Ah right I understand so really I should just be able to plug the airbag in then. There is no other connections to worry about. The first time I fitted it I did all the screw's back up but on repositioning it today I haven't screwed it in as I've been fannying around with the connections. It should plug and play with no SRS errors but it doesn't seem to want to play for some reason.

Well just put it all back together again making sure everything was straight and in alignment and SRS light is still on so I'm kind of stuck in limbo. Can't take it anywhere to be looked at or for MOT as its not legal but can't fix the problem! I've literally put the airbag back in as it came out!

Hi

Yes I've disconnected the battery before and after fitting. I've just disconnected it again and will leave it overnight but the light seems to be very stubbornly staying on

Thanks
James

How is driving it illegal?
When the alternator belt snapped on my 940, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. The SRS light came on and stayed on until the belt was replaced, the alternator was charging again, then it went out...

Cheers

Its been off the road so no tax or mot. I was getting it ready for mot hence noticing the horn not working but now I can't take it for MOT due to the SRS light so I'm stuck again! It also needs tyres and brakes which a friendly local garage are sorting for me for a good price so that needs doing before MOT but I can't do anything until I get this SRS light off as it will fail the MOT and I'm back to square one

Ok makes sense now.
Dunno where the SRS module is but sounds like a sensor isn’t happy for whatever reason!

Cheers

I don't want to say this but....as you are in a fix. Hmmmm. Bypass the SRS light as suggested above. But probably is illegal e.g. type approval regulations. Best advice is get the car towed to the garage.

Have the MOT done to see what else is necessary before spending on brakes or tyres. Make some decisions when you have the MOT result.

Volvo brakes can be elusive to fix by the way. Elusive = expensive. Unless your brakes are very different from 240 brakes.

You might need an experienced tradesperson re that air bag?
