Default 164 twin carburettors + other spares

Hi folks

I recently rebuilt a pair of stromberg carbs for a volvo 164 3l for a friend . Unfortunately the engine now appears to be dead , its been sat with diesel in the bores for 6 months and its still solid.

So are they worth anything to the folks on here? They had new gaskets/diaphragms and an ultrasonic clean . Complete apart from plastic air filter cover .

Also looks like the rest of the car is now going to be scraped due to engine issue and rust , so are their any parts worth selling?

Please email crimondbanger@live.com if your interested.

I came across this recently with a friend's car. Diesel, force, all the other methods to unseize and more were tried but nothing happened.

The engine was pulled and stripped down to see why, we found it had seized at TDC! In this slightly unusual scenario, rotating the crank doesn't cause very much piston movement hence being unable to unstick it. Some downwards force on the TDC piston (only one was actually stuck) combined with torque on the crank and it was free.

If you can be bothered, try removing the head and it may yet be salvagable
