Emailed dealership about warranty and I can tell they weren’t too keen to answer. Gave me a link as posted earlier in this thread.

I’m undecided now. Really love the car and would want to keep it beyond 3 years however not sure which warranty to go for, if any.

Reason why I’m considering warranty is because of all the tech in the car which means not all garages are able to fix if things go wrong.

Yep, this is my first Volvo and is the most unreliable car I've ever owned, and that includes the cr@p I drove many years ago as a student. Whatever you decide, just make sure you have some kind of warranty...

I wouldn't consider running a car like this without some form of warranty - it can get expensive very quickly when things go wrong.

Thanks for the advice all.
My warranty runs out March 2020 so few months for me to decide.
I might even upgrade to newer models with self drive

My car is 3 years old and therefore out of the initial warranty on 5th July. I received a card offering two options to extend for a further year either to 60,000 or 80,000 miles. No mention of an extra 2 years. Options were to upgrade either by web or phone.

I rang the Volvo Warranty Administration number on the card and asked about another 2 years, was told that it was available- total 5 years or 100,000 miles but it has to be done through a dealer.

My dealer said they couldn't do it, I rang Volvo Customer Service they gave me numbers for 2 other dealers, one was bviously finding it very difficult to come up with a "work-around" as the other was in the same group I didn't even bother ringing them.

In the end I contacted an independent dealer (who occasionally has a presence on this forum), they were very helpful and arranged an Volvo Extended Warranty of a further 2 years (5 in total) with a 100,000 mile limit for me.

So if you have your car from an Arnold Clark Volvo dealer you may find it difficult to get them to sort out the longer warranty, if so go to another independent dealership and they might be able to help.

My dealer renewed my warranty for me last Friday. It was exactly £400 for 12 months despite the card from Volvo quoting £445. But then, I have an awesome dealer 😁

Does anyone know if it is possible to extend the warranty to 4 years this year, and then extend again in 12 months?

My XC90 coming out of warranty in a month's time and i dont forsee changing it in the next 12 months, but may do so next september, so naturally dont want to waste £££ on something that will have no value to me!

Have you been into John Clark in Dundee and asked them?

Hi all,
I've a 66 plate XC90 coming up to 3 years old so have enquired after reading the above about warranty options through my dealer.
I've had similar quotes to the above
1 year extension to 4 years old, 60k on the clock = £445
2 year extension to 5 years old, 100k on the clock = £895
To buy year 4-5 after year 4 would be £595 for the year (so a 'saving' of £145 when buying together.
Tempted to get the 2 year - just adding tax, insurance, service (to include a free end of warranty check equals a pricey month for a family car
You still have to pay for a diagnostic fee which is something that's always bugged me with some warranty/car makes!
Thanks for starting my thoughts on this though...
