Has anyone out there had any issues with the Getrag/Powershift gearboxes? Have you had a you gearbox fixed or replaced by Volvo?

Not on a Volvo but on my daughters Galaxy. Repaired under warranty at a cost of about £2.5k.

Symptoms were that during shortish runs it was fine but on longer runs of 15+ miles it would go into a sort of limp mode with little or no acceleration. A short stop and it would be fine again.

According to the gearbox man it was the small plastic - yes plastic - springs in the clutch that break up and clog up the valves.

A friend of mine has also had the same problem on his 2.0d Xtype Jag.

I have watched a video from Australia and there they miss the f out of the description.

The gearbox man also said that the VW group DSG gearboxes are worse, he apparently sees no end of people who have bought a lovely Audi at auction and have problems with the gearboxes. The parts alone can be over £2k.

If you put Ford Powershift problems into YouTube or Google you will be rewarded with many answers. There was a major lawsuit against Ford for the powersh!t gearboxes IIRC.
