Default A bit of fun for a Sunday afternoon....

So here is a bit a fun for a Sunday afternoon....

I was inspired to start this thread the other day when driving up the M18 and saw a car stopped on the hard shoulder. What is the most bizarre thing you have seen happen on the hard shoulder of the motorway? I will start us off with my 4 most bizarre ones:-

1. Somebody cycling along the hard shoulder M18 n/b J3-J4
2. Someone praying on a prayer mat on the hard shoulder M18 s/b J2
3. Someone releasing racing pigeons from the hard shoulder of the M180 e/b just before J1
4. A hiker using the M180 Trent viaduct hard shoulder to cross the river (I guess it avoided a long detour....)

Any one better those?

On the M180, came across an eldery couple, picnic table and chairs out on the verge, enjoying their flask of tea and sandwiches.

About 6 years ago I was travelling along the M1 and there were horses loose and running along the hard shoulder and then onto the carriageway, they caused a massive tailback as everyone had to stop and wait for the police to arrive and heard them up, it was like the keystone cops.

And just this morning a loose horse was on the grass verge on the A19 near Norton/Billingham slip road in the North East. Police and a civilian helper were in attendance when I passed, they were just leading it off the slip road when I passed again coming back the other way an hour later.

One of the side benefits of reading this forum is that it helps me learn new phrases. If I would have heard “hard shoulder” outside of this forum, would have probably made me think about a medical muscular issue )

Back to the topic, many years ago it happened to me (while pulling out from a gas station) to see a car coming on the hard shoulder from the opposite direction... the truth is I was on the highway connecting Alexandria to Cairo, so maybe it’s not that bizarre for the guys over there.

I would have been surprised that there was only one car doing that in that region. 🙈

“Pulling out” would suggest something else out of the forum. Specially in P*rnhub

I once glanced over at a car parked on the opposite hard shoulder while in slow moving traffic. One of the occupants was stood next to the car and bent at a weird angle, pants round ankles, taking a dump. Lovely.

The most bizarre thing I ever saw was on the M25 (where else!)...a car on the inside lane was bombing along and the front offside wheel had no tyre on it whatsoever. The steel rim was like a Catherine wheel, never seen so many sparks. How the driver was controlling the car I have no idea, but the family on board seemed blissfully unaware, chatting away, grinning and smiling
