My pre July '66 built ammo has silver ones, quite tatty as well so guess originals.

I think the change from gold to silver was part of the general face lift with the '65 model.

It's not yellow - it's light-green #91.

The only yellow-ish Amazon colour, is "Golden yellow" #84

Small update today, I have bought some 'Tim' gauges which I'm planning on mounting under the dash. Today I finished soldering up a couple of mini looms which I'll use to wire them in.

Gauges I got are these 3.. I also got a tach which I haven't decided if I'm going to mount in a pod on the dash or not.

As there are 3 gauges which both need powered & a separate feed for the lighting I thought having 6 cables (plus sensor feed for water temp + oil pressure) would be a few too many cables I spliced the cables together by stripping some of the insulation back & twisting them together. I shamelessly stole this idea from Derek (dheming) in his post here: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=87042

Once that was done it was a case of soldering on some rings & heatshrinking everything up.

Once I get these working it will be time to tackle spaghetti junction:

As Mitch is very kindly giving my car a home in his awesome workshop for the winter I'm looking forward to getting the engine out & repainting the bay as well as rolling the car over and tackling the undersealing. Just have to help get some stuff shifted around then hopefully will get cracking soon!

This evening I (well mainly my friend Tommy) knocked up a pod that I'm going to use to install the gauges under the dash.

I had seen these pods but didn't think paying that much for a sheet of metal with some holes cut in them was worth it. I also want to paint mine red to match the dash colour.

I put together a sketch using a drawing package the other day to get an idea what we were going to do.

We cut some sheet steel & folded a lip at the top which will be used to attach it under the dash.

We then cut the holes for the gauges using a 52mm hole cutter.

The corners were rounded off with a bench grinder.

Next we cut a strip & bent it to shape to give the device a lip to hide where the gauges stick out at the back.

The lip was tack welded on for now. I'm going to use liquid metal to smooth out the join before I sand & paint it.

With gauges!
