Default I really want to fix my sat nav

Hi

I really want to fix my sat nav. I get it is massively out of date and rubbish, and I don't care. I just want to get it working.

Now the challenging part is that the DVD player in the boot is no more. I purchased a replacement but whilst it boots up it won't let me control the unit. I spoke with Lukaz(?) who advised it was the wrong model year player. He did give me the correct unit code that I needed, but finding one has been tricky.

So come on people, help me out. How can I get this unit up and running again? Is there a company that sells the units?

Thanks

07 XC70 btw

2nd Hand via eBay or wreckers. Without any guarantee.

Or new via Volvo. With guarantee.

I did not think a secondhand unit would work , I thought they were coded to the car ?

what's wrong with the original unit ?

if it just not reading DVD's you can have the laser changed, have seen posts on here with the company contact details for one company that repairs them.

Edit.....

Assume you’ve asked round breakers to see if they have the correct model year? Thinking Huddersfield breakers are really good and might have something?
Can lukaz code it to the car if you get one?

I read VIDA for a 2007 XC70
This has the older MELBUS based audio system
VIDA does not mention anything about security codes

I am thus guessing you have a good chance you can fit a unit from a similar vehicle

VIDA shows an exchange part number of 36050144
CH 174066-, FOR 30732571, 30732653, 30752538, 30775369, 30775981, 30732902, 30732903, 31215654, 31260778

Check your CH (chassis number). If higher than 174066, then any of the above part numbers may work.

Try to see if you can drive to a wreckers and try one out in your car while you are there.

Well I owe the poster above a big thank you. You were correct. I sourced a replacement unit with one of the above codes from a Facebook page (from Richie who may be on here). I plugged the unit in and it works. No coding, nothing. It just works. So happy right now!
