Is this right?
Hi, MTE’s Swedish written software calibrations for all D5’s is £395, no need to travel as you install it yourself…. sold here in the UK by Kalmar Union for nigh on 20 years now, it's been very well received.....

Here's a link to the Kalmar Union home page: http://kalmar-union.com/

Hi give Aled a ring at Cambridge re-maps, if he can do it he is mobile. 01223 855 491 or 07908 429 996. He made a great job of mine but it is a 185. Worth a call. Dave.

As said do not waste your money. All these boxes do is make your car tell lies to its self. Get a proper quality remap or leave it as it is.

I'm running with a bluespark box. (Previously loved from this site...)

Easy to set up, easy to install, easy to remove - works fine for me.

Funny how people with something different can't see the advantage in something they don't have...

Cheers

Or perhaps they have experience of these boxes and the difference a proper remap makes but if your happy that's great. I am happy with my shark remap.

If you read that article and still think a tuning box is a great idea, it's clear that they are for people who neither know or care what's happening inside their engine.
I haven't heard of a single tuning box buyer who know exactly how their fuel system was performing before or after fitting and there's a strong possibility that they could get appreciable performance gains simply by maintaining their car properly.

Indeed.
And here's how it's done seriously:

My tuner - Heico, represented through a local Homologation Consulting company, issed a proper formal certificate of homologation conformity, valid for my car, containing measurement values, which was properly registered with the authorities.

It states many items including:
Max Power is now 149.5 kW at 3575 RPM
Max Torque is now 468 Nm at 2550 RPM
The produced noise levels are 74.0 dB(A) at 2681 RPM
All Euro4 emissions standards remain adhered to
An identiifcation plaque is affixed to the engine bay to properly identify the performance upgrade

The tuning is guarranteed by Heico and did not infringe on any Volvo guarrantee.

Proper tuning, done seriously, does not invalidate any country homolgation conformity requirements or guarrantees, BUT it does cost money to do it properly.

Tuning boxes are cheap "hacks"
