Tyre tread depth
Hi
If you buy a one year old S90 from a Volvo main dealer is there a minimum tyre tread depth that the tyres should have. Thanks in advance Volvofantastic |

Whether that is acceptable to you at the time of purchase is another matter entirely. Regards, John.

as a rule we change tyres if they are below 3mm for our sales cars
I've been told that's what main dealers do too, but i'm not sure, is this a car you've bought or looking to buy? If your looking to buy just ask if they can fit new tyres on it, you never know! |

Obviously 1.6mm across 3/4 of tread etc to be legal, but I assume Volvofantastic is buying a used Volvo from a Volvo dealership and wants to know what the corporate policy is under something like Volvo Selekt.

You could measure the tread depths, price up new tyres and do a calculation to negotiate a discount.

If you think they're too worn, tell them you want new ones fitted as part of the deal. And try to specify decent tyres, or you'll get cheapest they can find. Or haggle for a discount and put it towards tyres you DO want when the current ones actually need changing....

From any dealer the tyres should meet the 1.6mm limit. For a main dealer, whilst I do not think much of them, they do generally ensure there is a healthy amount of tread on the tyres around 4mm+ at least.
With regards to how much tread should be on a 1 year old car? Well that variable to driving styles, mileage, care and mechanical aspects.
