2004 XC70 vs 2006 XC70

Hi all,

Quick question. We have a 2004 XC70 that has a relatively clean maintenance record and has had nothing more than a light bump & approximately 125k miles.

A relative is offering us her 2006 XC70 that has more miles (140k) but was recently in a side-on accident that required substantial work to replace both doors. The airbags didn't go off.

What questions would you ask to make your choice? How would one assess the structural integrity to ensure that the accident didn't weaken welds, etc?

Any reason why it has not been repaired under an insurance claim or has it been deemed beyond economical repair.

Good question. The 2006 was repaired. It was a toss-up between 'beyond economical repair' and 'repair' but with a little guidance the coin landed on the side of 'repair.'
