Well spoke to soon, the flickering camera is back :-(, also goes to a blue screen, just seems to be random. So again last night disassembled the boot trim disconnected the camera, cleaned it and reconnected and it's back to being perfect, so think it's either the connection is some how managing to work loose, or there a fault with the cable, probably in the boot opening bit, as normally opening/closing the boot starts/stops the not working.

So this time I've left the boot unassembled and once if it starts playing up again I'll just see if the connection has worked loose. Tried speaking to volvo parts but they say its an option extra and there 4/5 cables listed so they can't tell which one is the correct on that we will need.

Still really happy with the car and it's got the sensors so it's not a problem, just annoying lols.

Yup Service was fine noted the tyres would need doing soon (as we knew), and then quoted a rediculous price for the tyres so we'll be getting them elsewhere. Mention rear arm bushes were deterioating slightly but no need to be done urgently/in the near future, so nothing bad at all :-).

Sorry to hear about the camera - sounds like it's going to be one of those niggly things that you might, or might not, track down. The car was obviously upset at being sold!!

Glad nothing else unexpected turned up though - I was sure all should be well but you never know...

Tested with the flicker last night and it definately seems to be the cable/connection to the camera soon as you wobble/move it the flicker comes back, as it will get moved/wobbled with the boot opening and closing, so I think this is the issue. As the cable dissappears into the headliner not sure I want to attempt replacement myself, so I think the buying the part and getting an indy garage to fit will be the best option, if I can find a garage to take the job on, not really wanting to pay main dealer prices lols

Me too lols, I'm 99.9% sure the new cable will fix the issue, just Volvo will want a lot in labour to do the job, I would imagine it would be a couple of hours work, we can get the cable for about £50-60, just the £150-200 to fit (probably) is a bit of a pain for something you dont really need lols.

Although Jen now panics when the camera doesn't work lols, have to remind her she can use her eyes and the sensors lols.

I've found a couple of indy Volvo garages so I've emailed them hopefully one of them may provide a cheaper quote, I did try an audio company but they didn't want to touch it lols.

Although maybe an auto electrician would be a better option...

As you say, a silly amount of money for a gizmo...

I know what Jen is feeling though - it's amazing how quickly you come to rely on these things! That said, you just as quickly get used to not having them again: that camera is very useful but I haven't missed it once on the new car (that being about the one toy the new one lacks that the old one had).

Good luck with it!
