Non-starter Fault codes 1201 1202 for a 2.0D
Hi All,
Car is a S40 '06 with 95,000 on the clock. I have fault codes 1201 and 1202. I am aware that the code is for: Fuel injection system driver. Signal missing. The 01 is cylinder 1 and the 02 is cylinder 2. It is unlikely that both injectors went at the same time and so I am hoping that this is an electrical problem. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thanks in advance. Steve Last edited by srcholmes; Sep 19th, 2017 at 14:17. |

Hi, just thought that I would update this in case anyone else has the issue.
I took the car to Volvo as my local garage could not find a reason for the codes. It was them that recommended that I take it to Volvo as they would send the injectors to a diesel specialist as a next step. Volvo said that the electrical connectors to the injectors were not connecting properly! There was some powder/dust in the connectors when I had last taken them off, but when they went back on the connection was not getting through properly to the injectors. So the stealership are re-wiring the connectors. They also said that two injectors needed replacing as they were leaking diesel. Given that these are £475 a pop from Volvo + fitting, I was slightly aghast. I knew one of them was leaking and was prepared to get that one replaced, but I had looked at the engine two days previously and I didn't see any other leaks. So I told them only to replace one of them and I would see how it goes from there. The next comedy moment was when they said that they did not have any replacement injectors in the country and would have to have one shipped from Sweden. Seriously....???? So, I am happy that the fault has been found. But I'm not impressed with the extra injector that "requires" replacement, nor the fib about not having any in the country. They may have been telling the truth about their stock, but I am very surprised they would not have a few in the UK. I may also find a second injector leaking when I pick up the car (whether it leaked before or not)! A final point - apparently Volvo name the cylinders in the opposite order? The 2.0D is a Peugeot/Ford lump with (as I understand it) cylinders 4-3-2-1 as you look at them, left to right, from the front of the car. The Volvo technician said Volvo call them 1-2-3-4 !! Oh well... |
