Seatbelt recall - Page 6

My se lux nav was done some months ago with the same results of a very low anchorage point.
It would appear that the flexible section was simply removed, and the belt itself fixed back lower down.
Leaves a gaping hole and the buckle difficult to access as it sits half into the opening.
Dealer response:- completed 100's, never had a problem raised!! No solution or advice offered.
I didn't want to put additional holes in the belts, so got a pair of clamp type stopper buckles, which work ok.
Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in Volvo quality or dealer service. wonder what will happen if they all move onto the agency model?

Yes ours had the same problem, just bought a new seat belt button off the bay, its now fine...

Well I think I now have what everyone else got, the removal of the outside anchor points and simply bolted to the floor.

Yes, same as!
Shows up the non-leather sections on the seat.
Also either the buttons are not the same height or the stitching is different, the passenger one is worse!

Have we also lost the lap belt pre-tensioner? Now that it is fixed to the floor? Or did we never have one?

Looks like you are correct.
Several items have appeared recently about this and includes the founder of NCAP, whose car is similarly affected, asking Volvo about their commitment to safety. Apparently the main pretensioner is in the door pillar, the lap belt one was a secondary item.
Volvo apparently assert that, following tests, the removal of the secondary pretensioner does not affect safety adversely in any way.
I saw this and thought at first that there was to be a second recall, but apparently not.
Even the youngest of these cars are getting older and virtually out of the warranty period. The bean counters must sense savings can be made.

Yes just read that report, the idea of the lap pre-tensioner was to stop you sliding forward under the lap belt. Well no problem with that with my physic.
