fault code 2520 fuel pressure
hi would just like to first say hi to everyone here, i have read alot of info off you guys over the past year that has helped me alot.
i have a 1.6d 2006 s40 and my car every now and then loses power and i have to turn engine off then restart engine and everything is fine, took it to garage and they have found fault code 2520 fuel pressure, pressure too low. they dont know 100% what the fault is and said there would have to be some extensive investigation needed to establish the exact problem. has anyone had simular problem or advise on possable fix and were to start. many thanks in advance, sean |

When was the car last serviced?
I would check out the very cheap easy stuff first, the filter may be partally blocked ant not allowing a free flow of fuel which can cause the problem. Of course it could be a few things including the pump itself but we don't want to go there yet. If in doubt then change the fuel filter to see what happens, also ensure you have got plent of fuel in the tank. |

Hi Sean,
Personally I would look at the problem now, if it is the pump you may not want to spend the money on the fix and save the cost of the service? I would estimate at a good £1500 for a diesel pump fitted. If it were me I would change the fuel filter first (easy and cheap) then explore other possibilities from there (fuel pressure sensor amongst other things). As said if the pump is faulty you may want to evaluate wether or not you'd spend the money required. It would be a shame to spend the money on a service then decide your not keeping the car? Pumps are a rarity so don't assume the worst yet, but be prepared for it at the same time. |
