Default Driving impressions

Well I finally took the 66 Amazon to the shop. (I work for a Toyota dealer)
Had one of the older guys (like me) adj. the carb. Weber conversion.
Runs pretty good now. Next I have to address the lack of dash lights, the fuel gauge not going above an 1/8th of a tank, or below for that matter.

Thinking about putting on some snow/ice tires and making this my winter (bad day) driver.

Its fun to drive.
Wish me luck!

Nice estate ya got there. Is that a fifties GMC truck I see lurking behind the Amazon?
The switch for the lights also controls the dash lights. You turn it to brighten the dash lights but can often be faulty. If you search this board you will see older threads discussing the problem. More than likely the problem is with the switch.
Hugh.

1949 Good eye! It may go away so I can concentrate on other projects.
Amazon - Bertone - Cutlass etc.

I've been reading up about the switch and will tackle that soon.
Thanks

Nice collection there. What year is the Cutlass?

The 262, is that the one where your wife blew up the V6... have I got the right person?

Amazon looks nice, and a very practical classic car to have around!

John

Cutlass is a 65, needs some TLC but overall very solid. 455 @ the machine shop now.(going to be fun)

Yep she blew a head gasket coming home from a VCOA meet years back.
Its getting a 5.0 from a Ford Explorer. Our goal is to have it her daily driver.
With the Amazon for grocery runs.

Back to the Amazon anyone have any luck repairing a fuel sender?
I have an extra from a 68 parts car. Might try that one.

thanks for the reply's

Time to study Swedish Embassy some more. My dash light came on and off
while playing around with the knob.
Now I know where to begin.

Anybody have a tip on removing the back seat (upper) ? (parts car)
