Just clean it and the intake every cam belt service interval and all should be well.

If it does clog up before that, then make sure the injectors are not gummed up by using a fuel additive. I use half a can of LM Diesel Purge every fuel filter change.

Blanking it will confuse the ECU unless the MAP is adjusted. If you do that then apart from the fact it's an anti social act in emissions terms, it is classed as an engine Mod and should be declared as such to your insurance folks.

Well, sure reasoning behind EGR is worthy - I am all for it to reduce the emissions but it should not affect car health negatively. Filter would be good idea IF it would not be another half-cost-of-new-car part.

The early model DPF systems were designed before Bio diesel was added to normal fuel. Bio is great at keeping the system clean and lubricating injection pumps, BUT it has a higher boiling point and does not evapourate at normal oil temperatures. That means any fuel getting past the rings and into the oil during a cold start will acculmulate. Bad, bad news as fuel is the second worst oil contaminant.
The solution is to change the oil only about twice as often as the Max recommended interval.

Later DPF systems and stop start diesels reduced the DPF issue, although they all seem to fail before the main block.
