I loved my V50 and as it was a 2008 model got it Polestar-ed. Fun and practical. Later I traded it in against the S60 which is even more fun. Interestingly, the dealer in Blackburn has still not shifted my old V50 and does not seem to know it is a Polestar!

The only problem that I had with the V50 was the aircon which cost me an arm and a leg when the compressor seized!

Welton, can you tell me where I could buy the anti roll bar and rear engine mount you mentioned please?
Hmmm, I think I may well have the FPS issue. The last few days it has got worse. Today it was very noticeable and feels like an occasional stutter or misfire? At one point on the dual carriageway the cruise control disengaged on its own - I 'm guessing down to this issue, at the moment. Is the FPS the most likely culprit? Do they get worse quite quickly or is it very gradual? I'm not getting any generic OBD codes but I don't have VIDA to check in more detail.

As far as other members have reported; the car will begin to hold-back and require more throttle and will exhibit signs of fuel starvation. I think it's the sort of thing you can live with until you source the new FPS but it does sound like the issue. I believe you should eventually get the engine light up as it will flag a fault with the 'values' expected by the ECU.

Member 'iainmd' on here had the problem with his T5 and is knowledgeable about the symptoms/fix.

I'm planning to fit a new FPS as a matter of course soon.

Ford dealer round the corner, think I am just going to order one and change it. I think this is the most likely culprit.

Old part number from Volvo is 30650015.
Now changed to 31272730.
Volvo's price is 199.80 inc VAT. Dear Lord...!!!
Ordered the Ford equivalent at 53.29 inc VAT.

Will update once fitted.

Please follow the correct procedure for changing the FPS. Don't just take out the old one as the fuel rail is kept at such a high pressure and if released without removing the pressure first the escaping fuel can literally take your eye out!

Just encase anyone else is looking for a FPS for T5 then here is a list of alternative part numbers to do the job - LINKY!

Good point SonyVaio!

Here's a photo-guide I found once before when planning to change mine: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthr...the-T5-engine&

I'm not sure if pulling the fuel pump fuse is still valid? might flag and engine fault code and out the light on?

Welton, I've not clicked the link and read it but the removing of the fuse is valid and well worth doing.

IIRC - you pull the fuse and turn engine over a few times to relieve most of the pressure in the rail first. It won't put any lights or eml on, well none that wont go away once connected again. It just stops the pump from trying to re-pressure the rail.
