When I checked mine on an old Orion I poured water into the exhaust manifold and where there was a dodgy valve the water came past it. Ended up changing all exhaust valves on that one. Most likely to be exhaust valves which are bent for some reason. Pretty sure some-one will tell us why soon.

You have already got the head off and the engine is a GDI(well known for coking up) so it is well worth getting the valves reground and if need be have any damaged valves replaced, the valves may well open and close and appear to seat properly but if the valve stem is slightly bent (which it more than likely is) the valve will not open fully therefore affecting the performance of the engine.
