I think I got some of my most competitive quotes from Yes Car insurance (or someone similar) They came up a bit cheaper than Confused.com.

I ended up ignoring all of those and getting insured with LV as they were the only ones who would cover me for 6 months in France; all the other would only do 3 months

Just to give an idea what I'm up against - many of these insurers just aren't prepared to insure someone under 30 on the T5 at all. I already act like I'm 65 - I might be too boring for it when I'm 30!

Good news! I've seen two sensible quotes - £1130 from Elephant.co.uk, and about £1200 from Adrian Flux. Both are for 12 months comprehensive. Any suggestions as to which insurer is better?

Thanks,

David.

Hi,

Ardian Flux has a pretty good rep in the modified cars insurance field and quite a few people here use them (they are a brokerage firm)..
Some people here have also been happy with elephant so I have read..
6 or one, half a dozen the other..

Check the t&c of both insurance policies to find out which gives better terms for you...
You could always call AF and say you would like to go with them but were offered a policy cheaper at elephant, would they match it?

Des. . .

Yes, but things are not quite that simple - I test drove one today, and liked the car, but it just doesn't feel fast. I'm going to have to think hard if I want to pay that much for something that ticks all the boxes, but doesn't put a smile on my face.

On the other hand, on the way back I test drove on impulse the Skoda Octavia with the 140bhp diesel and DSG - I was blown away. Great fun, superb gearbox, and felt much, much faster, with the turbo boost launching the car! I may just end up getting a VW Jetta with the same drivetrain - a good £3k cheaper than the Volvo!
