Accepted - it does not appeal to all. But that's the beauty of vinyl wrap. When it's time to sell......you just peel it off.
And underneath is shiny new paint untouched by bird sh*t. Bingo. |

Paintwork protection
Interesting thread. Would I want to cover any part of my own XC60 in wrapping vinyl? You’ve got to be joking. Do I get why others would? Definitely. My son runs his own sign making business and specialises in vehicle vinyl wraps. 90% vans 10% cars, part and full wraps. Having watched and helped with some jobs I know applying the vinyl is technically demanding and done properly takes a heck of a lot of time and patience, with no cuts going through to the paintwork. Juetron’s right, the vinyl does add some protection to the paintwork and it comes off very easily. Would older cars benefit from a face lift? Only works if the bodywork is faultless, but it is cheaper than a good respray.
What I am considering very seriously is whether or not to have clear, gloss 3M Venture Shield vinyl applied to the bonnet and front bumper to add some serious protection against stone chips. It will give the front end much needed protection and as an added bonus, a deep gloss. Still undecided. Actually, the red Volvo with black roof and black wheels pictured above would get a glance of appreciation if I spotted it on the road. Last edited by WindyMiller13; Mar 7th, 2014 at 17:59. |

There are quite a few cars on the market with two tone paintwork / roof finishes.....Audi, Mini, Mercedes, BMW, Citroën.
So the key is to make any aftermarket addition as OEM as possible. Which means using the best quality vinyl and a company who is at the top of their game. Still need to get some Photoshopped pics done to check out the finish before committing though !! |
