Red face City Safety Gets Confused [Footage]

Anyone else had this at a car park barrier?

First time this has ever happened to me... caught me by surprise!

It is just doing its job , look at your video again and Imagine that barrier was a child stood there , the speed you are going it can be seen that you are anticipating when the barrier will go up . The city safety can only go on what it is presented with , ie an object looming up at a speed which if the car continues at its speed will hit . The braking is left to the very last moment, you just went over the threshold of the system detecting a collision if the present trajectory was continued .

Absolutely - and glad to know it works!! I had previously assumed that it wouldn't 'see' a barrier as it's higher than the bonnet. I guess it uses the camera in the windscreen rather than anything in the front of the bonnet?

Yes the camera gives information on shapes and whether they are moving or stationary, it also sees road lines . The laser measures distance to the objects in front and works out closing speed from this . ( the two smaller lenses )

There is a radar in the front grill on some models for adaptive cruise control and other functions ,.

Crocks - http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=200653

In short, a cheaper model I had shipped from china that I chose after days of research online - I wasn't prepared to spend £300 on a Blackvue considering I was looking to order 2 devices. I ended up ordering 2 of these and a £30 one without GPS that was also highly recommended. I have that facing out the rear of the X3...

It came well recommended and i'm really pleased with it. More info/pics/sample vid on other thread.

My V70 has done that too with a similar type of barrier. I don't have adaptive CC, just city safety.
