Default Ring Antenna Question

Hello!

Can anyone tell me if the the ring antenna around the ignition has any effect on the central locking/unlocking with he keyfob if faulty?
or does this antenna only pair up with the transponder inside the key fob?

both my key fobs (had 2 sets of batteries in both now) sometimes dont open/close the central locking. need several attempts and maybe a little tp of the fob on something solid

thanks all !

No.

The key fob send lock/unlock signals to the remote control receiver in the UEM (upper electronics module), located inside the interior rear view mirror.

The ring antenna around the ignition lock is for the passive immobiliser transponder inside the key, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the keyfob buttons.

I had problems with my fob for remote lock/unlocking.

Fresh batteries didnt make any difference, sometimes the fob worked sometimes not.

Turned out to be that the batteries weren't making a good contact inside the fob, the little spring contact had weakened slightly.

This was a couple of years ago and the fix (packing out with a bit of foam) has lasted until now (kiss of death I know...)

Edit - was actually 3 years ago and the whole story is here

Cheers
